The Palindrone Jukebox

The Palindrone Jukebox was designed as an accompaniment to The Reversing Machine was exhibition by artists Sam Belinfante and Simon Lewandowski. At the exhibition’s core was the machine itself; a self-reversing mechanical power source.  Any object attached will turn at a steady rate for a set time, then stop and be set into reverse – a mechanical palindrome.

Central to their installation at The Tetley, Leeds (2014) was a pair of turntables driven by the machine that played a repertoire of specially composed vinyl records. This gave rise to The Palindrone Jukebox.
